To The Center And Back
We offer this tour as a guided 4×4 self-driven expedition and driver-guided.
Join us on this 3-day tour where you get to experience remoteness in combination with must-see sights. Our journey takes us to a remote mountain range deep in Iceland´s central highlands, an extreme paradies of steaming geothermal valleys, glacial rivers, snow fields. An exciting area to visit that allows for a unique experiences.
Tour highlights are Þingvellir National Park, Geysir hot-spring area, Gullfoss waterfall, glacial area around Langjökull glacier, Kerlingarfjöll mountains and nearby area
Day 1
Before departure you will be greeted by your guide. On the tour we want to stay off the beaten path as much as possible and use the backroads to travel. Our route takes us East towards Geysir hot-spring area. From there we visit Gullfoss waterfall. At the waterfall we leave civilization behind for the next 2 days. We drive to the glacial area of Langjökull glacier. Visit a remote waterfall and lagoon. We then continue and arrive at the Highland Base where we overnight for the next two nights.
Day 2
On this day we will explore the interior of Iceland even more. We are located in the center of Iceland, our route takes us to the area South of Hofsjökull glacier. During the day we will be circling the mountain ridge driving fantastic mountain roads, crossing rivers and enjoying incredible landscape. Arriving back at our accommodation at the Highland Base.
Day 3
Today we will leave the Highland Base and head South, our route is East of Hvítá river. We visit remote places on our way where we will stop and continue to experience the serenity found off the beaten path. Before arriving back at the Blue Lagoon, we will stop at Þingvellir National Park. The area is known for unbelievable beauty and history. It´s where the Vikings established the parliament in the year 930 and where a rift valley is being created by the drift of two tectonic plates, the North American and the Eurasian plates. We will arrive in Reykjavík in the late afternoon.
